Project Controls & Earned Value Management Systems, Rio Tinto – Iron Ore Company of Canada (46 Million CAD); Labrador City, Canada; 2019.
AHE Inc. working as Cost Engineering Consultant with PTAG Inc. , hired to design and implement a Capital Project Controls and Daily Earned Value management system for client’s iron ore process plant in Labrador City. Initial capital project involved a 40 day shut down, demolition and rebuild period of one of the Filter-Balling-Induration units used to produce iron ore pellets. Client required daily project controls and earned value reports during the demolition and new construction work which was performed 24/7 over 40 days. Lead the onsite design of work and data flow processes and implementation of PTAG’s proprietary cloud based Field Management software, with access via tablets, mobile phones and laptops. Integration includes client’s SAP and Primavera P6 systems. PTAG’s Field Management software provides industry best practices based solutions to clients that integrate real-time field data into their existing Project Management Information Systems, ERP, corporate and operations environments.

I2PD – Ontario Power Generation, Otto Holden Hydro Power Plant Overhaul
AHE Inc. (AHE) has been working with PTAG Inc. (PTAG) since October 2018, to introduce and implement the first industrial construction project using the new Industrial Integrated Project Delivery (I2PD) method. The knowledge base for this new project delivery method is being developed and promoted by the Construction Industry Institute (CII) based in Austin, Texas. PTAG is leading a research project sponsored by the CII that will determine the benefits of the I2PD project delivery method vs traditional project delivery methods. The first pilot project is the Overhaul of 8 hydroelectric turbines located at the Otto Holden Hydro Electric Power Plant owned by Ontario Power Generation (OPG). AHE’s role is to provide project cost control system development and implementation covering WBS and CBS structures, project schedule and cost monitoring procedures, cost coding and automation of cost and schedule data transfer from multiple proponent financial systems into the cost control and reporting software, Cleopatra. All project cost control reports including earned value analysis, and estimated cost at completion (EAC) are to be generated using Cleopatra. The I2PD structure involves the OPG and 4 other proponents who are partnering to deliver the turbine refurbishment projects over a period of 8 years. The scope of engineering and construction work includes disassembly and reassembly of the Turbines, refurbishment of some Turbines, installation of some new Turbines, and removal and replacement of cracked concrete that has expanded overtime. PTAG is a capital project consulting firm servicing the global Power, Oil & Gas, Mining and Heavy Infrastructure Industries, and their clients seeking to improve capital and sustain project outcomes. Total Estimated Capital Project Cost $100 MM USD. AHE Inc. will be supporting PTAG Inc. with the implementation of large Government & Private sector projects using the Industrial Integrated Project Delivery (I2PD) method on an ongoing basis.

Housing York Inc. – Valuation of 40 Facilities for York Region, Ontario
In July 2018 AHE Inc. was awarded the contract to perform asset valuations of 40 properties owned and manged by the Housing York Inc. to assist their Housing and Development Strategy group to plan for future social housing needs in the Regional Municipality of York, part of the Greater Toronto Area. The project required the calculation of replacement construction costs for high rise apartment buildings, town house complexes, senior citizen apartments and shelters for youth and adults. The methodologies employed included quantity take-offs from available drawings and floor area methods where drawings were not available, as well as site visits. The total estimated replacement construction cost valuation was just over $1 Billion Canadian Dollars.

Cham Shan Temple
In June 2018 AHE Inc. was engaged by the Buddhist Association of Canada Cham Shan Temple to provide a Class A construction cost estimate for the main temple building, sewage treatment plant and site infrastructure. The total project scope consists of 10 additional temples and residential housing units located on 400 acres north east of Toronto, Ontario. The Main Temple & Sewage Treatment Plant construction cost estimate was $43 Million CAD.
